Creating a pipe cleaner snake is an easy and fun craft that’s perfect for beginners! With just a few simple materials and steps, you can create your own colorful little snake. Follow this step-by-step guide to make your own simple pipe cleaner snake!
Table of Contents
Materials You’ll Need:
- 1 blue pipe cleaner
- 1 green pipe cleaner
- 1 yellow pipe cleaner
- Googly eyes
- Glue
- Plain paper
- Scissors
- Red felt tip pen
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Twist the Pipe Cleaners Together

Start by laying out your three pipe cleaners (blue, green, and yellow) side by side. Twist them together to create one long, multicolored strand. This will form the body of your snake.
Step 2: Make the Spiral Tail

Take one end of your twisted pipe cleaner and coil it around your finger to form a spiral shape. This will create the snake’s tail. Bend the other end of the pipe cleaner upwards to start shaping the snake’s head.
Step 3: Form the Snake’s Face

Now, take the straight end of the pipe cleaner and fold it over by about 5 cm (roughly 2 inches). Then, fold this section in half to shape the snake’s face. This part will give your snake a pointed head.
Step 4: Add the Eyes and Tongue

Next, glue two googly eyes to the face you just made, securing them with a bit of glue. For the snake’s tongue, color a small piece of plain paper with a red felt-tip pen. Cut out a tongue shape and glue it underneath the face, just below the eyes.
The Final Result:
Your colorful pipe cleaner snake is now ready! You can adjust the coils and shape it to your liking. This craft is a simple and creative way to introduce kids (or anyone!) to making pipe cleaner animals. It’s also a fun decoration or toy to display or play with!
